Liv Marit Haakenstad, AG®, AGL™ was born in Lillehammer, Norway. At the age of 12, she started doing genealogy research, and has worked as a professional genealogist and author since 2001. She has written more than a hundred genealogy articles on computers & genealogy, Norwegian emigration, genealogy, and genealogy technology, and ten books on Norwegian genealogy. She is a classic and forensic genealogist. Haakenstad has been a consultant for several genealogical TV shows, including Who Do you Think You Are? BBC and Canada. Liv Marit Haakenstad has given more than 150 lectures throughout Norway, the United States, and England. She was a speaker at Who Do you Think You Are? Live conference in Birmingham, UK 2015, at RootsTech London Conference 2019, RootsTech Connect 2021, and was a speaker at RootsTech in Salt Lake City 2023 and 2024. Haakenstad has a master’s degree in nonfiction writing from USN, Norway).
