  • I am a professional genealogist who honed my research and analytical skills while completing a master’s degree in epidemiology and during a 30-year career as a pediatrician. In 2020, I transitioned my focus from medicine to family history; I now hold a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and operate my own research firm, Susan C. Kim, Family Historian.

    Currently, I serve as the Director of Education for the Idaho Genealogical Society and am a member of the Society’s Research Committee. My personal and professional expertise centers on Jewish ancestry in the former region of Galicia, Austria. This commitment is reflected in my work as the Gorlice KehilaLinks Coordinator and as a Slovak Civil Vital Records Project Volunteer for JewishGen.

    I am a firm believer that history must be preserved and shared to remain vital. To that end, I serve as a Board member for the Sawtooth Interpretive and Historical Association in Stanley, Idaho, and as a docent at the Anne Frank Memorial in Boise. Locally, I enjoy helping others break through their own "brick walls" as a FamilySearch Center Instructor. By combining scientific inquiry with deep historical sensitivity, I strive to help others reconnect with their heritage and ensure that their ancestors' stories are accurately documented for future generations.
