Rachael was born and raised in the United Kingdom and has lived in Illinois since 1978. She has been active in genealogical research, including English, Irish and US research since 1980. She has had two books on English research published by Heritage Books, Maryland; and in 2025 her book "From Camp Douglas to Vicksburg: the Civil War Letters of William J. Kennedy, 1861-1863" was published by Savas Beatie.
