    Bio:

A native of Georgia, Donald Yates is a cultural historian and principal investigator of DNA Consultants, a DNA testing company in Phoenix. With Elizabeth Hirschman, he co-authored When Scotland Was Jewish: DNA Evidence, Archeology and Public Records. Their book Jews and Muslims in British Colonial America: A Genealogical History was published in February 2007 and lists more than 5,000 surnames of Hebrew, Arabic and Jewish origin in early America. Using autosomal DNA testing, the co-authors have published a study in Appalachian Journal proving the mixed Sephardic Jewish roots of the Melungeons, thereby bringing closure to an old ethnographic mystery in American history. Donald Yates' newest book is Old World Roots of the Cherokee: How DNA, Ancient Alphabets and Religion Help Explain the Origins of America's Largest Indian Nation.
