  • Bio:

    A retired manager of a medical research lab, Joan Miller is a long time genealogist who uses DNA to complement traditional research. She is a published author of scientific papers and genealogical articles. She coordinates the Alberta Family Histories Society DNA special interest group and is the Aumack surname Y-DNA Project Administrator. Joan is a member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, the International Society of Genetic Genealogy, five genealogical societies and two Toastmasters Clubs. Toastmasters is an organization that teaches effective communication and leadership. She serves on the public relations committee for the Alberta Family Histories Society which includes managing the social media(AFHS blog, Twitter and Facebook). Joan writes a regular column called "From the GeneaSphere" for the AFHS "Chinook" quarterly publication.
