    Bio:

British by birth, Maggie's interest in genealogy began over 20 years ago when she began researching her own family history. This has developed into a real passion for anything relating to social, family or local history. She has been an officer of a number of local history and genealogy societies within the UK, holding various posts including chairman (president) and treasurer.
Over the last 4 years Maggie has lived in China, India and Japan where she has become extremely interested in migration from the Chinese and Indian subcontinents, and is rapidly becoming an expert in all things to do with immigration and migration.
Maggie has taught classes and organized study days, courses, conferences and seminars for all levels of researcher and for society officers. She regularly contributes articles on family and local history to various genealogy journals and magazines, and is co-author of the best selling Discover Your Roots (published 2006). She was employed for 8 years as the administrator of the UK-based Federation of Family History Societies and has been a family and local history consultant for the History Channel
