He has been actively involved in genealogy for almost 30 years and has a teaching and speaking career spanning almost 40 years. He has worked with The Internet since the 1980s and with computers since 1955, first as a US Navy pilot and then in two successful, computer related careers in industry - as a partner of Accenture, Ltd (formerly Andersen Consulting,) and as Chief Information Officer of Comcast Corporation.

He teaches genealogy courses at Rutgers University Academy for Lifelong Learning and at the Princeton Adult School and has been a planning committee member and publicity chair for several national and regional genealogical conferences

In his genealogy researches, he has worked extensively in The British Library, The Library of Congress, The New York Public Library and other major genealogical libraries in the US, UK and other countries, as well as in the Public Record Office and Society of Genealogists (London) and The (US) National Archives, The New York City and New Jersey State Archives, The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and many smaller libraries, record offices and private collections.

He holds active memberships in the National Genealogical Society, The Society of Genealogists (UK), The Association of Professional Genealogists, The Genealogical Speakers Guild and many regional, state and local genealogical societies.
