  • Bio:

    Meredith Hoffman is a professional genealogist and popular lecturer who specializes in researching Jewish immigrant ancestors and particularly enjoys solving difficult Jewish name problems. She holds degrees in Linguistics from UC-Berkeley and is a graduate of the Boston University Genealogical Research Program and IGHR. She is Syllabus Chair for the New England Regional Genealogical Conference (2011, 2013, 2015), Publicity Chair of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston, the founding editor of the Success! Stories webzine on JewishGen.org, and Town Leader & KehilaLinks coordinator for Berezno, Ukraine, at JewishGen.org. She regularly lectures and gives workshops at regional and national conferences and many local venues. In her first career, she studied and then taught Linguistics at the University of California-Berkeley and San Francisco State University. She retired from her long second career as a technical writer, editor, and publishing consultant to devote most of her time to genealogy research.
