Valerie Elkins is a genealogy professional who specializes in helping people not just find their ancestors, but uncover their stories as well. Valerie blends modern technology with the ancient art of storytelling to assist people in discovering their heritage lessons for greater understand and appreciation. Through her company, Advantage Genealogy www.AdvantageGenealogy, Valerie is available for speaking engagements and virtual webinars. Valerie has worked as a research consultant for Shed Media U.S., the production company responsible for NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are as well as for PBS’ Generation’s Project. Her business specialties are: Heir Search, Japanese Ancestry and Family History Stories Research. Valerie Elkins is co-founder of the genealogy study group US-REC (United States Records) and is a graduate of Salt Lake Genealogy Institute’s “Advanced Genealogical Methodologies” and “Professional Genealogist” courses. She is a known genealogy blogger at www.familycherished.blogspot.com where she shares ideas on how to share, preserve and promote family history. Utilizing her 25 years of genealogy experience Valerie writes and lectures on a variety of genealogy topic. She is a volunteer research consultant at the Family History Library (International Floor), in Salt Lake City and currently instructs area Family History Consultants in the uses of technology and how to better serve patrons with their research. Valerie is also a private social media strategy consultant for those wanting to better use Twitter, Facebook and other socia media to further their presence online. Leveraging her years of publicity and marketing experience in the public sector, Valerie serves as the Publicity Chair for the Utah Genealogical Association and is a Story@Home Board Member.
