Corners Past: Uncovering the History and Lives of Historic Properties Buildings have many stories to tell. The trends that built and decorated them - the ways they were used and repurposed through time -the lives of the people who worked or lived in them… Drawing from her own experiences while researching historic properties, Katie will discuss the records and resources that have shed light into the corners of the past, and share some of the amazing stories that she’s found along the way. Beyond Beginnings:Taking Your Research Further Getting started with your Family History can be a little daunting, but once you get going, the fun really begins. You know the kinds of records out there, but do you know where to find them? What do you do if it is not online, or indexed, or if it is halfway around the world, in a foreign language? What about sexton, colonial, bounty land, and guardianship records, or state and territory censuses? Katie will help you keep the momentum in your research by going beyond the basics. When the Going Gets Tough: Tips for Breaking Through Brickwalls Dead end. Brick Wall. Immaculate Conception. It has many nicknames, but it all means the same thing: frustration! Don’t give up until you try these tips and tricks. Your madness just needs a method. Katie will teach you how to construct a “preponderance of evidence” and the best records to turn (or return) to in order to get out of a rut. Bring your thinking caps because this is not for the faint of heart! The Price is Right: Free Online Research What could be better than finding your ancestors while wearing your pajamas and playing around on the internet? Doing it for free of course.
