Bio:
Steve is a professional genealogical researcher and lecturer in the Springfield, MO area. He has been doing genealogical research for more than 35 years specializing in Civil War research, documents and manuscripts. Since the early 90’s, Steve has been researching for clients professionally in various capacities. He has a large client base throughout the United States and in Europe. Trained professionally as a research scientist and project manager in the areas of nanotechnology and semiconductors, Steve is acutely aware of the need to be critical in research details, methodologies and source documentation. These attributes are evident in his lectures, enthusiastically imparting his genealogical background and knowledge to his audiences.
Steve is an active member of the Ozarks Genealogical Society (OGS), Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks (CWRTO), the National Genealogical Society (NGS), the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), the Genealogical Speakers Guild (GSG), the Springfield Area Archivist Committee as well as other societies and organizations. Steve currently serves as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors for OGS. He also serves as Program Director and a member of the Board of Directors for CWRTO. Steve recently served as President and Vice President of the CWRTO. He is a former member of the Board of Directors and Vice Present of the Idaho Genealogical Society. In 2007, Steve was the Conference Chairman for the “Civil War West of the Mississippi” Conference held in Springfield. He volunteers at the Hulston Research Library at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield and previously served as a volunteer patron librarian and supervisor for four years as at a regional Family History Center in Boise, ID.
He has participated in numerous national, regional and local conferences and learning opportunities. Steve has taken advanced coursework in US Military Records from the National Institute for Genealogical Studies, University of Toronto. He is a graduate of the National Institute on Genealogical Research (NIGR). He has attended multiple scholarly lectures and programs on a variety of Civil War topics.
Steve is available to speak at conferences on all levels, meetings, seminars, workshops, and group discussions. All lectures include handouts, a visual presentation, and Q&A period. Interactive participation is highly encouraged and welcomed. |
